Surroundings of Capalbio
The woods surrounding Capalbio are ideal hunting areas, a very popular ancient tradition in this territory, especially the boar-hunting. Other naturalistic destinations are the W.W.F. Natural Reserve near the lake of Burano, the sea coast and the very long beach stretching along the thick Mediterranean flora.
Last but not least, don't miss a visit to the wonderful masterpiece by the French-born artist Niki de Saint Phalle known as the "Tarot Garden" near the village of Capalbio, with its 22 huge monumental sculptures inspired by the tarots.

The Tarot Garden
The Tarot Garden is an artistic park composed by monumental sculptural (12/15 metres high) inspired at the Tarots. Niki de Saint Phalle has created this garden on the hill of Garavicchio near Capalbio in Tuscany. Tarot Garden is a true one and just museum perfectly inserted in the landscape of the Maremma, a park of exceptional fascination, one of the ambient art examples more important in Italy.
The garden was opened to public in 1997 after 17 years from its inception, and Niki continues to work on it. It could be said that the Tarot Garden is never completed.
For its particular aspect, its delicacy, and with the scope of preserve the magical atmosphere of the Garden, the visits are possible only in some periods of the year (of usual from april to october).
Actually the Tarot Garden in managed by the Foundation "Il Giardino dei Tarocchi", a private foundation that uses the profit for the continuos cures of maintenance of which this park it needs. In Capalbio and Argentario zone you can find the best and clear sea of Italy!
Capalbio, border of Tuscany sea, offers a lot of kilometres of big and wild beach, one of few areas where people and nature can exist in armony.
The town has earned the coveted recognition of the 5 sails of Legambiente, a source of great pride and honour for all of Tuscany.
Further, this area offers the marvellous beaches of Feniglia di Ansedonia and Porto Ercole. Moreover the cliffs of Argentario and the unusued motley beaches from the Island of Giglio; the uncontaminated beaches on Island Giannutri and at the end the marble cliff of Island of Montecristo.
Burano Lake

The Burano lake is a brackish coastline lagoon in the Capalbio town council, southern Maremma. It spreads for about 140 hectares and is a meter deep on average. It is divided by the Tyrrhenian Sea by a narrow strip of sand dunes.
In 1980 it became a natural State reserve classified as wetland, of international importance based on the Ramsar Convention. A part of the lake and bordering areas also forms part of the WWF Oasis of the Burano lake
The Saturnia's Thermal Baths
The Saturnia's thermal baths are a group of springs located a few kilometers from the village of Saturnia. The springs that feed the baths, which are found in the south-eastern valley, cover a vast territory that stretches from Mount Amiata and the hills of the Fiora dell'Albegna to the Maremma Grosseto at Roselle and Talamone.
The sulphurous spring water, at a temperature of 37.5 °C, are well-known for their therapeutic properties, offering relaxation and well being through immersion.
The yield of the source is about 800 liters per second, which guarantees an optimal replacement of water. The chemical make-up is sulfur, carbon, sulfate, bicarbonate-alkaline, earth, with the presence of hydrogen sulfide gas and carbon dioxide.
